jdromano:

Here are a few helpful tips to keep your local coffee shop workers sane.

  • If you’re going to order two cappuccinos, (or one larger sized one) leave your server a tip, or at least be patient. Making that much milk foam takes time, especially when they have to froth the milk more than once to get enough of it for your drink.
  • If you and your companion(s) are ordering the same blended drink, let the server know before they make it. They will make both drinks at the same time and charge you separately upon request. They’ll have less work, and you’ll get your beverage quicker.
  • If there’s a mistake with your drink (such as too sweet, not sweet enough), and a line behind you. wait until the rush is over if you’re not in a hurry. Chances are that they made the drink according to procedure (unless they do something such as make a mocha, not a caramel drink). If you’re patient, they’ll be more willing to remake your drink, even if the fault wasn’t theirs.
  • If you don’t like your drink simply because you were trying something new and didn’t know what it would taste like, don’t make a big fuss about it. If you’re polite, chances are your server will consider remaking the drink for you instead of making you keep it or pay for a new on.
  • Don’t fucking talk on your cell phone while ordering. It’s seriously annoying and we will want to slap you.
